MEETINGS: March 12, 2010

Social Time - 7:00 Meet - 7:30

FRIDAY - FRIDAY

LUIS OASIS SENIOR CENTER

420 Soares Ave, Old Orcutt, (937-9750)

<<<<<<<>>>>>>>

March Demonstrator: Bill Shinn will be presenting several aspects of his workshop in Nicaragua. First, a short film about the "Potters for Peace" showing their beginning as a political force and their present functions as an educational and marketing service for the Nica Potters.  Their ceramic water filter factories have spread out to over forty countries and have saved countless lives. I'll then have a slide show of the workshop itself followed by a brief travelogue on the country and its recent history of disasters, both natural and political. Bill says this is an interesting web site: www.pottersforpeace,org

<<<<<<<>>>>>>>Carol’s Wheel: Hi everyone.....Well, it is getting down to the wire. Anyone who wants to be in the spring show needs to get their entry fees in ASAP. It is first come, first served on the spaces and you don't want to be left out. There are still a few spaces left. This has been our most rapidly growing show; with the flower booth outside, the antique car show, and the BBQ, it has been the best attended show of all. Also those of you wanting to be in the studio garden show need to get your membership in pronto! I know you may feel pressured by all these deadlines but think about it. This Guild has been very lax in enforcing deadlines. Any other show you try to get into will enforce those deadlines to the max, and for good reason. We who work on the shows can tell you the difficulties for those of us trying to put shows together without knowing who is going to be in. As for those who manage to sneak by, be warned; it was recently brought to our attention that our insurance will not cover those who are not officially members or officially entered in a show. This is the reason for our having to get tough about fees and deadlines. We are after all an official Guild and have rules we need to follow. Our demonstrator this month is Bill Shinn. Come and enjoy. God bless...See you at the next meeting.
