August Meeting:  Demo Derby

September:  Annual BBQ0

<<<<<<<>>>>>>>

Carol’s Wheel: What an unusual summer!  Our weather has been so different this year, it was hard to know what to expect, but it was still very busy.  Our Studio Garden tour was above expectations.   We however need new studios and gardens to add to our list and are looking for new host venues.  Anyone who would like to participate please let us know.  It is really a fun time.  The August meeting Demo Derby is always interesting.   There is always more to learn with people showing new skills and are not shy about passing tips on!  Thank you to all who participate!  Our annual BBQ is in September this year.  Minnie and her hubby Jim took the summer off for some family fun, so it was moved to 24 Sep, Fri (6 to whenever).   For those wanting to come to board meetings we switched our monthly meeting to the Oasis Senior Center (4 to 6); still the first Monday.  We need set up and take down people for Grapes and Grains....volunteers Please???  Dan Swanson's mom was an accomplished artist and when she recently passed away he was left with lots and lots of frames.  Anyone interested in making a good purchase can call 922-3955.  Anyone with ideas or interested in participating in any way is urged to come to the Christmas Show meetings.   It does take time to work out all the rough edges on these events.   It has been decided that all fine artists can show their prints, cards, & etc as well as their original paintings.  Whew!   Hope you had a good summer...God bless...See you at the next meeting.                                Carol J. Rodriguez

TOWN CENTER GALLERY NEWS

·         Mel Felix--(shadowmakers@earthlink.net)..I would like to invite any member of LPAG who is not a member of TCG to participate in our upcoming Art Festival on 18 Sep. More info to follow, but anyone interested please get in touch with me at the TCG or my e-mail.  We are just working out the details.  I think we will be having a car show sponsored by our neighbor Skip Gibson BBQ, who will also be doing the food.

·         9 Aug (12 - 2) our ingathering.

·         We have TV commercial and it is working; we are getting more visitors to the gallery.

·         19 Aug (5:30 - 7:30) we are hosting the monthly Chamber of Commerce Mixer.  There will be food, music, door prizes, an "Art Hunt Game," and a silent auction.  Most of the door prizes were donated by other Chamber businesses, but we are asking gallery members to donate three cards or another small item(s) to be given as a door prize.  We want those who attend the mixer to be able to take home a piece of our gallery art.  Please, bring your item(s) to the ingathering.  If you would like to participate in the silent auction, bring one piece of art (designated for the auction with the original price marked so we know where to begin the bidding) to the ingathering.  The money collected on each item will be split 50-50 between the artist and the gallery.  The Chamber Mixers are usually attended by about 100 or so people, so this is a great opportunity for us to show our community we do have some very fine artists.

·         The TCG also has a commercial running on the dish network and a coupon ad in the Sun, but our best advertisement is by word of mouth.  The gallery can only showcase your art, you need to be spreading the word to your friends and neighbors to come see your work.

·         Mike Corob created a mini demonstration program for Saturdays (2-5).  Interested artists need to sign up on the calendar by ingathering day and contact Mike Corob at youani@aol.com to confirm details. With this information Mike will create postcards visitors can pick up at the Chamber Mixer, 19 August.  The program will have no cost, and may bring us back visitors and customers.
